welcome to discoverkids!

Here at Discover, our kids are super important to us. We strive to fulfill the Church's vision and mission through our kids ministry and their families. We would love to have you and your family!

SUNDAYS

We currently have two areas in our children's ministry, one classroom for pre-school children, and another classroom for grade school aged children. Planning on visiting? Look for the DiscoverKids booth in the Cafeteria where someone will be happy to get you and your family acquainted with our classrooms and volunteers. We want your kids to be excited about going to Church!

OUR MISSION AND VISION

KIDS VISION

Our vision at DiscoverKids is that our kids would be a biblically functioning community that does life together, relationally with Christ.

KIDS MISSION

Our mission at DiscoverKids is to express our kids' "D.N.A" - by equipping our kids to Discover God and His blueprint for their lives, to Nurture our kids, along with their gifts and their talents, and to teach and show our kids how to put God's plan for their lives into Action.

our Discover Kids' Team

We have some amazing people who teach our children.  Get to know a little about each of them!

Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it. - Proverbs 22:6(NIV).

Raising kids today can be tough, but with the Bible as our tried and true manual, we can equip our children to face the challenges of this world. As a mom of two boys, I have a deep understanding of the phrase “it takes a village”. That is what Discover church is all about: growing together in Christ - this includes our children.

Working with the youngest members in our church is an honor and a privilege. I get the opportunity to work with parents in planting seeds of faith that will grow and flourish. I am passionate about teaching our children to love and serve God above all else. Nurturing that love and seeing them grow is so very rewarding. There is nothing sweeter than the faith of a child. I just adore spending every minute with our youngest children.

A little about me: I am married to Brett. I have two boys, Cooper and Coleman. I have a crazy dog named Murdock. I work in education at a local school district. Discover Church is my home and I am blessed to be a part of this wonderful community. See you Sunday morning!

Growing up, I wanted to be a racecar driver, a television reporter, and a teacher. When I was 12 years old, I helped my mom teach Vacation Bible School at our church - it was then I  knew God was the One who had placed the desire to teach in my heart!

When I was 22, I felt a calling on my life to serve God in ministry – wherever He wanted. I am passionate about leading people to discover and learn about God’s forgiveness, grace, and love. I married my best friend, who happened to be the Youth Pastor at my church, and we have served God alongside each other for 24 years. I am constantly humbled and excited to have opportunities to teach and share God’s love with infants all the way to up “big people” throughout the years. Additionally, for the past 10 years I have been an employee of a local school district.

Serving our kids each week and getting the chance to help them make connections to God’s word is a blessing for me – most weeks, they teach me a thing or two! I am also passionate about having fun and getting a little crazy now and then, but I promise it won’t involve any real life racecars – but maybe a video camera and a script…I love our kids!

I love Jesus and I love kids! I'm happily married for (almost) 15 years. I have one daughter, Caidence, who is in the Middle School. I love spending time with my family, including my 3 rotten dogs. I'd be eternally happy if I could spend my life on the beach with a good book.

I have a Bachelor's Degree from OSU in Communication Sciences and Disorders and a Master's Degree from TU in Speech Pathology. I've worked in pediatric home health, a private clinic setting, and a public school setting for the past 14 years. Before that, I was a Kanakuk Kamp counselor during my college summers. I've volunteered hours upon hours in the nursery, Sunday School classes, and Awanas programs. I love kids of all ages and am always most excited to see when they have an "aha" moment. I love that kids are so honest and open with their minds, opinions and hearts. Kids give their love easily and fully and once you've established a relationship with them, and there is just nothing better than that!

As earliest as I can remember, I have always loved children. Growing up, I would babysit as much as possible. I soon found myself wanting to work with children and decided to get an Education degree. I graduated with an Early Childhood degree and started teaching right away! I have taught kindergarten, first grade, second grade, and currently teach Pre-K at our local elementary school. I have been teaching for 29 years! I am married to my wonderful husband, Lance, and we have three beautiful children.

At Discover Church, I wanted to serve in a way that I could share my passion. Children are a blessing from God! Teaching Sunday school allows me to share the gospel and see children come to know and love Christ. I can't think of a better way to make a direct impact on our future generation!
